Nintendo Wii U - Pricing & Expected to be revealed in November

Nintendo Wii U was first unveiled at the E3 2012 but apart from that there are certain rumors which would be possibly true.

Here is a roundup of the top 5 rumors which are possibly true.

Wii U To Cost $300

Wii U’s total manufacturing cost is estimated to be around $180 which includes the cost of Wii U components(approx. $50) and the cost of base machine itself which is rumored to include HD components,802.11n Wi-Fi, four USB ports, an expandable internal storage, numerous outputs, and other standard features.
However, the $180 price tag does not include the cost of packaging, shipping, production bills and most importantly the software. So if Nintendo wants to earn a little profit, it will be forced to tag the Wii U’s price at around $300.

Wii U Launch Date To Fall In November

An internal email from Media Land employees in Japan claimed that the Nintendo Wii U launch date will be November 18, 2012 for North America, while the Japan release for the device will be 1 week later.

The November 18 release date for Wii U seems to be legit when we consider the fact that Nintendo has always released its consoles in mid November. GameCube for instance was released in North America on November 18, 2001 and then Wii U’s predecessor, the original Wii was released 5 years later on November 18, 2006. It is also worth noting that all the previous releases from Nintendo were done on Sunday and the alleged Wii U release date also falls on Sunday. So we don’t really see any logical reason for the Wii U release date not to fall on November 18 this year, unless of course, Nintendo intends to change its tradition.

Console To Support Multiple Wii U Tablets

Well, this one can’t be called a rumor in exact sense because Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, stated just after the Nintendo Wii U was announced that in the near future, Nintendo might look out for possibilities for game play that would include 2 Wii U Tablets. Satoru Iwata continued to say “it would require a consumer to purchase an additional controller. Therefore, we would need to carefully consider how we could create such an experience and, potentially, how we could ensure that there would be enough value within that experience for the consumer to accept that cost and make that purchase.”

Wii U Is A Multitasking Machine

From what professional gamers have learned from the Wii U hands on during the E3, the tablet is a multitasking beast whose sole purpose would be to act as an input device for the Wii U console. The tablet features vary from being a personal monitor for multiplayer games or moving seamlessly from being an interactive inventory screen for games like Zelda or even a customized input device for the MMO.
The tech specs for Wii U controller are 6.2-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 420p, front and rear cameras, a motion sensing accelerometer and gyroscope, dual analogue sticks, rumble features, and a built-in microphone.

Wii U To Download GameCube Games

Nintendo has already made it very clear that the Wii U will support backwards compatibility only with Wii and not with GameCube. But let’s not get sad because it is almost confirmed that Nintendo will be offering GameCube games available for download on the “Nintendo Network”.

Nintendo representative Amber McCollum said in an interview previous year that “GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare,”

Price : Expected to be around £250 (Rs. 17,000)
