Airtel directed to pay Rs.6,000 to subscriber for not activating SIM
Airtel has been asked by a consumer forum to pay a sum of Rs.6,000 to one of its subscribers for having failed to activate her SIM card, despite charging her for it. In her affidavit that which she submitted to the East District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, complainant Asha Sharma stated that she paid Rs.1,000 to Airtel to avail of the operator's services. Airtel, however, as per the affidavit, did not activate Sharma's mobile connection, despite repeated requests.
Reports further quote the forum President N A Zaidi as saying that Sharma claims that she had issued a cheque of Rs.1,000 to Airtel, who did not activate the connection. Zaidi adds that Sharma has not provided the forum with any evidence to the effect that the cheque was encashed. In the affidavit, however, Sharma claims that the cheque has been encashed by Airtel and the SIM card had not been activated, Zaidi added further.

MTNL begins Home Delivery of telecom connections
State-run MTNL's mobile, landline and broadband connections can be availed by just sending an SMS or communicating online, a top company official said. "Under single window service, we have started providing mobile connections, landline and broadband at the doorstep of customers. They just need to send an SMS or communicate us online about their need. This is first of its kind service in country," MTNL Executive Director A K Bhargava said.
The company has operations in Delhi and Mumbai only.

New Malware Targets Blackberry Users - Says Websense
Security firm Websense has identified a new malware campaign that targets Blackberry users with a malicious attachment in fake emails.
The fake emails, crafted using content copied from legitimate emails from Blackberry, state that the recipient has successfully created a Blackberry ID.
To lure recipients into opening the malicious attachment, the fake emails say: "To enjoy the full benefits of your BlackBerry ID, please follow the instructions in the attached file."

Microsoft has released a 90-day trial edition for its final version of Windows 8 operating system, which is slated to go on sale on October 26 this year. The trial, however, is available only for the Enterprise edition of Windows 8 and is aimed at developers who intend to build apps, and IT administrators who want to try out the new OS before making their decision to migrate, all ahead of its official debut. Microsoft recently released final version of Windows 8 to MSDN and Technet subscribers.
